Taipei National University of the Arts has recently published a collection of Yuk Hui’s lectures which he gave at the university between 2019 and 2025. The anthology is titled Machine and Eros.
Machine and Eros brings together five years of lectures delivered by Professor Yuk Hui at the Taipei National University of the Arts between 2019 and 2025. Centered on the themes of “machine” and “eros,” the collection examines, on the one hand, the profound impact of the evolution of machines on philosophy, art, ecology, and political economy, while also reflecting on the conditions that shape contemporary philosophical thought. On the other hand, it returns to the concept of Eros to understand the place of machines within the economy of desire and to explore how art may offer clues for reconfiguring technology. This volume constitutes an important response to the contemporary technological condition. It is also a significant work that seeks to investigate the possibilities of technology and art from the perspective of a post-European philosophy.
